last days in bangkok part 2

finally downloaded the pics from zoe's camera, and saw that there were a few pics from our last days in bkk. the massage-beauty parlor where i got my hair cut and we had some massages was one of the girls favorite places. they were treated like real princesses.
they painted their nails everytime we stopped by. eijla was so funny, by the end as soon as she saw nail polish she would sit down and hold out her hand or foot. so cute!
we also went to a huge night market/carnival type thing. everyone was yelling really loud into mikes, but we have no idea about what. almost seemed like they were trying to raise money for a million different causes and organizations. thomas and the girls took a ride on the ferris wheel that was there. the girls really seemed to enjoy it.
and of course the weekend market park playground before we went home to pack for our late night flight back to sweden. eijla was in a hilarious mood and charming the pants off of everyone, including her own!
love the fact that zoe ran around and played with the thai kids, she doesn't let the language barrier stop her at all.
then it was the bus ride back to the hotel and packing, was a great trip. but we are already looking forward to the next one!

last stop in bangkok

the last few days of our trip we spent in bangkok, shopping of course and hitting all our favorite places one more time. on trip to china town to buy princess dresses, we had to stop and enjoy the 5 baht sushi one last time.

then of course we had to go the weekend market one last time to buy all those things that we just did not want to travel around with for a few months! zoe searched high and low for a proper ice cream stand and finally found one. ordered herself a bit chocolate ice cream and enjoyed every single bite.
so that is it. the trip is over. we are on a flight home tonight. good bye asia, looking forward to next time. now we are just hoping that we will not freeze in sweden!

royal palace w. da johanssons

Brita och CeGe are here to do some travelling whit us. we had a few nice days in bangkok. visited some of the attractions that we had some how missed over the years.
fun days, and now a new country awaits, cambodia! eimi is very exited...
to be continued!

the grand palace and then some

after we finally figured out how to actually get in the grand palace, we went exploring. zoe was in love with how sparkly it was. the golden stupa was a real hit. she even wore her princess tiara in honor of visiting a palace.

outside the temple of the emerald buddha, which is not emerald, we dipped lotus flower in water and splashed our heads for good luck. are you listening buddha?
someone wishes her room had this much bling bling.

even thomas managed to enjoy himself.
though it seemed to be nearly as difficult for us to find our way out as it was to find our way in. good job we had the excellent navigation skills of zoe and brita.
then we hopped on a very crowded ferry bus back to banglampoo.
where we ate super yummy food and my favorite food stall.
then there was the evening stroll down khao san road to soak in all the chaos.
and since, bangkok´s night market is no longer happening, we headed back to zoe´s favorite flower market to round out our night. not bad for one day in bangkok.

brita and cege!

we celebrated their arrival by heading out to chinatown and having a look around. had to stop for some 5 baht sushi too! yum.
on the way back to the hotel we stopped by the fort park down the street and had some yummy shakes. zoe was being quite the little princess, she has seen too much top model!
then brita, cege, and zoe joined the locals for a little bit of aerobics on the pier. the guy in pink hat to the right of cege certainly had an interesting fashion sense. seemed like he was really enjoying himself.
then it was back to the hotel for some rest, cause we are off to the grand palace tomorrow!

bangkok, pre johanssons

first things first, we all survived the night bus, with flying colors, although we were all a bit tired. so it was a bit of a relaxing day. zoe and eijla were beautified...

then we took a bit of a stroll around what turned out to be buddha statue area! there were buddhas for sale of all shapes and sizes, everywhere. we thought about taking this one home and putting in the garden, but thought it might be a bit too big for a carry-on!
and we rounded out the day with a yummy bit of street food before going home an crashing...
the next day we headed back to one of our favorite markets, the weekend market. eijla helped the fare collector on the bus ride there...
then thomas and zoe checked out the map to see where we wanted to go. zoe was mostly interested in the flower sections, hmmmm, i wonder why.
on the steps outside one of the shops selling scented candles and oils, was this text. being totally obsessed with smells, i appreciated it.
there was a bit of entertainment in the shape of a katoi geisha playing electric guitar! very interesting combination.
pappa and eijla shared a shake and some snuggles on a little bit of a break.
after the market, we headed to park next door, like always for the girls to have a bit of fun. which they certainly did. we all slept well that night.
the next we went on a little adventure. first off to the camera store to see if they could repair our waterproof camera that drowned. (they could but not sure when we will get it back). then we headed to the siam area, where there are a million malls. high on our to do list, was of course eat ice cream, i think that is about #1 for zoe nearly every day!
the girls goofing around on their sugar highs from the ice cream...
a little fun walking around the siam area. check out the huge tv!
tomorrow the brita and cege are arriving, and we are looking forward to some fun with them.

last day in bangkok

yesterday we went back to the weekend market to pick up some goodies to send home. the girls found a store full of stuffed animals. eijla fell in love with a little turtle, so we had to get it for her. we are calling her tao, which is thai for turtle.

today is our last day in bangkok, tomorrow we are flying to kuala lumpur. so we just stayed close to the hotel. we got massages, and eijla got a baby manicure :)!

we browsed khao san for anything we thought we might like to send home. zoe decided to get herself a tattoo! she even sat reasonably still.

goodbye thailand, we will be back soon!

eijla is 11 months old!!!

time just flies by when they are small. the other day she took her very first steps. we have not been able to get a photo or video of her walking yet, as she is still very hesistant, but it will be coming soon!

yesterday we headed back to chinatown and little india. us girls were ready for some shopping!

we stopped at the 5 baht a sushi stand again and ate some yummy sushi on the sidewalk. zoe thought the hot pink roe looked great, but did not like the taste, go figure

there is just piles and piles of fabric at the market, so while i was browsing, the girls were charming the salesladies

on the way back we hopped off the bus at a big flower market. zoe was in heaven!

dreamworld

dreamworld is thailand's biggest amusement park, and we had to check it out.
first we stopped by the gardens, and had to take a picture of this gigantic angeltrumpet for farmor!
dreamworld does have a much more asian flavor, being as there are a million and one funny foto shoot opportunities.

guess neither zoe or thomas are meant to be king...
there were actually not that many rides, and even less that the girls were allowed on. but we did get to do model T racing with them.
there was a ride called the grand canyon, supposed to be river rafting. all that really happened is that you got really really wet. but zoe really liked it.

then the girls had their first cotton candy experience. pappa the professional cotton candy eater showed them the ropes....

apparently the giant from jack and the beanstalk has his house at dreamworld. there were funny mirrors...

though i do not know what was a bigger hit their all the giant things or our blond little girls! so many people wanted to take pictures of them all day long.
girls hanging out on the giant's chair.

then the girls had their first elephant ride.
what's that? even more funny foto opportunities?

strangers wanting pictures with eijla again...

speedy mouse was one of the few rides zoe was tall enough to go on. it was a mini roller coaster, and it was a bit of a hit.
the racing cars that went about 5mph were another zoe ride...
and then there were even more photo opportunities, yes, we are definitely in asia!

last thing we did was ride on the cable cars over the park to get a bird's eye view...
it was a great day, and we had a lot of fun. but siam water park was definitely more our style.
