day one of the angkor temples...

we started our first day at a temple called Banteay Kdei, which was amazing. there were passageways, and carvings, and crazy trees trying to take over. honestly i could have probably been there all day long, it was incredible.
cege took some time out to play with his cellphone, i always find it amusing when ancient history and modern things become intertwined.
brita and thomas showed the girls how the asparas in the carvings probably danced while hanging out in the dance hall.
and this buddha statue got an adorable new head. during the pol pot era, many of the heads of the buddha statues were destroyed, it is amazing how much damage to culture, humanity, and history that man did.

the local children are quite the little salespersons, though tourists are often discouraged to buy from them, because they should be in school. during our lunch break this little girl was even trying to get eijla to make a purchase.
in the afternoon we also went to (or rather climbed up) a temple called ta keo. here is brita making her way up on the of the very steep stairs.
and look! we all made it to the top!
someone maybe started getting a little tired of looking at "gamla sten". hee hee hee. no really, he was a good sport, but he said himself that the girls made it much less boring for him. i knew there was a good reason we had kids!
the carvings at the terrace of lepers was amazing, there was wall after wall.
tired, but happy we had our fill of temples for the day...

looking forward to a few more days of this...

Enough already... You guys are living the dream!!!
And it seems so easy travelling with children... I have a hard time getting ours to dagis in time and without to many explosions on the 2 minute walk there ;)
